Harry Houdini, got his stage name from a man he admired with the last name Houdin (pronounced "how-den", but he mistook it as being pronounced "Hoo-deen"), a friend told Harry (called Eric at the time) that in the french language, adding an "I" to Houdin's last name meant "like Houdin". So Houdini was born.

In that respect, I feel the same way about Syd Barrett that Houdini felt about Houdin. So suppose Barretti is a just lable.
